General FAQs

Before you make a call to one of the numbers, please do check these contents to avoid waiting on the line or to listen to scripted answers.

  • How do I make a booking? How do I pay for my booking?

    You can book all of our hotels on our website www.namastegokarna.com For enquiring about our homestay options, you will have to contact us via the contact form. Payment options include credit cards, debit cards, UPI, net banking, and wallets.

  • Can I make a booking over a call?

    The short answer is no. You cannot make bookings on a phone call. All bookings for our hotels are online. Our support lines are to help you with any difficulty that you are having with the process, and not to take bookings. For enquiring about our homestay options, you will have to contact us via the contact form.

  • No response to my calls. When can I call to enquire?

    We strongly advice that you go through our website, and read these FAQs that are very likely to answer most of the queries that come to us. Once you have completely gone through the website and still have queries, we request you to send us a single WhatsApp message detailing your specific query which is not about price/tariff and/or availability and/or room type detail (which can be seen on the website) . If you must call, then please restrict your calls to between 10:00am - 11:00am, and 4:00pm - 5:00pm. We receive hndreds of calls every day and it might be impossible to respond to all of them about the exact same things. However, we are at your service, and will respond to your WhatsApp queries at the earliest, or we will call you back at the first possible chance

  • Do you have availability? What is the tariff / price?

    • Our entire room inventory is online, and whatever is available will be visible to you on our website www.namastegokarna.com. Availability information is only good at the time of checking. We might say that there is availability when we check, but it might show a "Full" status when you try to book or vice versa.
    • We have multiple beach side properties, which have multiple room types, which in turn have a dynamic pricing based on the season, on the long weekends, as well as based on the booking traffic for a certain date. It would be impossible for us to predict and list out the prices, and even if we did, they might change by the time you visit our website to make a booking.
    • So please visit our website www.namastegokarna.com for the most current status of availability, price & booking.

  • Does the tariff include breakfast and/or any other meal?

    All our tariffs at all our properties are always on a room only basis, and do not include any meal plan. There are no inclusions of any breakfast / lunch / dinner.

  • What are the check and checkout times?

    Checkin - 01:00 PM in the afternoon
    Checkout: 10:00 AM in the morning

  • My bus/train arrives early, can I get an early check-in?

    First off, there is no bureaucracy about the room checkin. If the room that you have booked is empty on the previous night, then we will give you the room as soon as the staff is ready, which would typically be between 8:00 and and 8:30 am. In the event that there is a guest in the room, there will be a cleaning time after the guest checks out at 10:00 am, or latest by 10:30 am and the earliest you can get the room will probably be around 12 noon, but to set the right expectation, your check-in will probably be 1:00pm. However, you can leave your luggage in a common area of the property that is monitored by a CCTV until the check-in time, and can go on a stroll to the beach, or for breakfast, and come back for the check-in time.

  • My bus/train leaves in the evening, can I get a late check-out?

    A late check-out will unfortunately not be possible. As our systems are online, we can hope to sell the rooms online for the 1:00 pm check-in, or anytime after, which we cannot predict. There is however a possibility during the non-peak times to book the room for half a day, at half the charge of a day, to hold the room until your departure

  • Do you have a private beach?

    There is no property in Gokarna which has a private beach (at the time of writing this) There might be reviews that mention that it felt like a private beach (maybe because there were very few people at the time, but the beaches are all public, and we do not have a private beach at any of our properties.

  • What activities do you have at your properties?

    We do not have any activities that are run or managed by us There might be activities that third parties might be operating based on their assessment of business viability. Depending on the season and the weather, there can be a host of activities like jet skies, zorbing, banana boat rides, boat rides, kayaking, surfing etc. or none at all. We are not responsible for the availability of such third party services during your visit.

  • Do I need an Airconditioned room?

    It is very difficult specify whether one needs AC or not, as it is a very personal liking. If one is used to 18/19/20 C then it is advisable to take AC. But the temperatures vary based on the time of the year, and with the changes over the last few years it has been very hard to predict But the thing to consider is, the temperature and humidity outside is what it is, given that Gokarna is a beach side village, and being in an AC room gives you less incentive to step out, as being out feels more uncomfortable after being in an air-conditioned room.

  • What is the weather like at the moment?

    Apart from being able to reasonably state that 1) Mid April till June are likely to be hot, November to March being pleasant, and july and August being wet, we are not in a position to confidently state anything other than the weather as it is now (and neither can the meteorological it appears before 24 hours :-). The rains have been highly unpredictable and lasting longer while pouring down at unexpected times.
    So as variant of they say for disappointment, " expect rains, so you wont be disappointed if it does" seems to be what would be the ideal temperment.

  • How far is the road from the property? Is there vehicular access and parking facility?

    The road passes right by the gate of Namaste Cafe, and the guest vehicles come into the property and can park there as well.

  • Is the property terrain physically challenged and senior citizen friendly?

    Public access to Om Beach, as well as the terrain of Namaste Cafe is located on an incline, and has gradients that can be challenging for people who have difficulties with walking.

    We have rooms that are located on the parking level, but the access to the beach still involves walking down a gradient to go to the beach, and walking up a gradient to come back to the room from either inside or outside of the property.

    This might be challenging for people with difficulties in walking. Please consider this before making any booking.

  • Is there hot water facility in the rooms?

    • All of our regular rooms have geysers in the toilets that you can use for hot water.
    • All of our basic rooms and cottages, as well as the three and five bed facilities get hot water supply during fixed hours of XXam to XXam ain the morning, and XXpm to XXpm in the evening

  • Do the rooms have ensuite / attached toilets?

    All of rooms have ensuite / attached toilets.

  • Are pets allowed?

    Unfortunately we no longer allow pets however well behaved they are.

  • Do you have WiFi? How are the mobile networks / internet?

    • We have WiFi in the restaurant and the reception, but Gokarna being a remote location does have its share of internet outages that are out of our control, and sometimes at the most inopportune times !!! So we suggest that you have a backup plan for such an eventuality.
    • Airtel, Jio, Vodafone and BSNL have fairly operating voice services. However, when it comes to mobile internet, Airtel and Jio networks usually give about 3-4 Mbps speeds, Vodafone is a bit of a hit and miss, and BSNL is not functionally usable.

  • Do you have room with a beach/sea view?

    • We have some rooms (Upper floors of Eeshwara block) that offer partial views of the sea/beach. But we do not like to mis-sell them as beach/sea view. Sine allocation is an issue, we leave it to the draw of the software lots and we are unable to make any changes to the allocations.

  • Do you have driver accommodation or driver facilities?

    • We have a shared sleeping place for 2-3 drivers based on their ability to share the space, and a shared common toilet with the staff.

      If there is a set expectation of a certain standard of sleeping area for the guest staff, the guests are requested to make alternate arrangements accordingly.

    Samudra Beach Front is sits pretty right on the beach front of Gokarna Main Beach. It is at a distance of

    • 2 kilometres from the entry point to Gokarna
    • 1.2 kilometres by car or two/three wheeler from the Mahabaleshwar Temple / Centre of town
    • Om Beach: 8 kilometers by car, and 4 kilometers by walk on the trail
    • Kudle Beach: 2.5 kilometres by walk to Kudle Beach or 2.1 kilometres to the parking spot on one end of Kudle Beach by two wheeler or auto, and 6.9 kilometres by car

  • Distance from the beach & road?

    Samudra Beach Front is a beach front property, with rooms that are at set at a maximum of 50-70 foot steps from the open beach.

  • How far is the road from the property? Is there vehicular access and parking facility?

    • The road is 220 metres from the entrance to the property, and there is no vehicular access. You can access the property only on a walking path in between agricultural fields.
    • We have a very limited parking for a maximum of six (6) cars about 325 metres from the property, and about 105 metres from the mouth of the path that one needs to take to get to the property. The person driving needs to walk about 325 metres to get to the property.
    • Since the parking is severely limited, the parking is allocated on a first come first served basis. The other guests have to use streetside parking, or the paid parking near the beach by the temple, which is about 500 metres walk along the beach.

  • Is the property terrain physically challenged and senior citizen friendly?

    Access to the property is via a 3 foot wide walking path in between the agricultural fields. The initial fifty (50) metres is on paving blocks when you arrive at a gate that is designed to keep the cattle out, followed by a sandy walking path that is elevated by about 1.5-2 feet above the adjacent agricultural fields.

    This might be challenging for people with difficulties in walking. Please consider this before making any booking.

  • Is there hot water facility in the rooms?

    All of our rooms have geysers fitted in the toilets that you can use for hot water.

  • Do the rooms have ensuite/attached toilets?

Since allocation management is an issue, we leave it to the draw of the software lots and we are unable to make any changes to the room allocations that the software makes.

  • Do you have driver accommodation or driver facilities?

    • We do not have any driver accommodation. There is a common toilet for the restaurant that they can use. However, arrangements for them to sleep will have to be made for, by the guests themselves.

  • Is the property terrain physically challenged and senior citizen friendly?

    Public access to Kudle Beach, as well as the terrain within Namaste Sanjeevini is on an incline, and has gradients that can be challenging for people who have difficulties with walking.

    We have the Eeshwara block that is located on the parking level, but the access to the beach still involves walking down a gradient to go to the beach, and walking up a gradient to come back to the room from either inside or outside of the property.

    Even the paths between the different room types involves some gradient change.

    This might be challenging for people with difficulties in walking. Please consider this before making any booking.

    • Airtel, Jio, and Vodafone have fairly operating voice services, but BSNL completely loses signal within the property and in some parts of Kudle. However, when it comes to mobile internet, Airtel and Jio networks usually give about 3-4 Mbps speeds, Vodafone is a bit of a hit and miss, and BSNL is not functionally usable.

  • Do you have room with a beach/sea view?

    • Namaste Sanjeevini is a green zone located on top of the hill at Kudle Beach. There were three blocks of rooms which were originally planned to be having a view of the beach, but eventually with the flourishing of the greenzone, the views have largely been curtailed with the trees. We still have some rooms in the Eeshwara block located at the top of the property that offer partial views of the sea/beach. Since allocation management is an issue, we leave it to the draw of the software lots, and we are unable to make any changes to the room allocations that the software makes.

  • Do you have driver accommodation or driver facilities?

    • While we do not have any designated driver accommodation, nor any specific facilities, there is a room that is currently not being put to productive use, in which we allow drivers to sleep in, albeit not in the ideal sleeping conditions. They can also use the common staff toilet.

      If there is a set expectation of a certain standard of sleeping area for the guest staff, the guests are requested to make alternate arrangements accordingly.

  • Where is the resort located? What are the distances?

    Rudraksh Retreat is a sweet 70 metres from Gokarna Main Beach in the midst of what are mostly lush green agricultural fields, and a walk of about 150 metres from the road. It is at a distance of

    • Entry point of Gokarna: 2 kilometres
    • Mahabaleshwar Temple: 1.2 kilometres by car or two/three wheeler
    • Om Beach: 8 kilometers by car, and 4 kilometers by walk on the trail
    • Kudle Beach: 2.5 kilometres by walk to Kudle Beach or 2.1 kilometres to the parking spot on one end of Kudle Beach by two wheeler or auto, and 6.9 kilometres by car

  • Distance from the beach & road? Is there vehicular access and parking?

    • Rudraksh Retreat is a two minute, 70 metre walk from Gokarna Main Beach. There is no road access to the property. It is a 150 metre walk from the road, in the midst of rural agricultural fields.
    • There is road access into the property and we have a very limited shared parking for a maximum of six (6) cars with Samudra Beach Front about 250 metres from the property, and about 105 metres from the mouth of the path that one needs to take to get to the property. The person driving needs to walk about 250 metres to get to the property.
    • Since the parking is severely limited (6 spots for 16 rooms), the parking is allocated on a first come first served basis. The guests who do not have a spot available in the parking spot will have to use streetside parking, or the paid parking near the beach by the temple, which is about 500 metres away by walk along the beach.

  • Is the property terrain physically challenged and senior citizen friendly?

    Access to the property is via a 3 foot wide walking path in between the agricultural fields. The initial fifty (50) metres is on paving blocks when you arrive at a gate that is designed to keep the cattle out, followed by a sandy walking path that is elevated by about 1.5-2 feet above the adjacent agricultural fields.

    All of our rooms have hot water supplied from an overhead solar geyser, in line with our optimal footprint philosophy. It takes a little while for the hot water to flow through, but it very hot when it does, so do exercise care.

  • Do the rooms have ensuite/attached toilets?

    All of our rooms have ensuite/attached toilets.

  • Are pets allowed?

    We do not have a definitive policy. It is entirely on a case to case basis, and the amount of responsibility the guest is willing to shoulder.

  • Do you have WiFi? How are the mobile networks / internet?

    • We have WiFi with in-room access. However, Gokarna being a remote location does have its share of internet outages that are out of our control, and sometimes at the most inopportune times !!! So we suggest that you have a backup plan for such an eventuality.
    • Airtel, Jio, and Vodafone have fairly operating voice services, but BSNL probably the best voice service. However, when it comes to mobile internet, Jio is clearly the leader (if you can call it that at a max of 4-5 Mbps), while Airtel and Vodafone are a clear second and BSNL is not functionally usable.

  • Do you have room with a beach/sea view?

    • Rudraksh Retreat is a two minute 70 metres distance from the beach. We do not have any rooms with a view of the beach/sea. What we have is a view of the garden ... blah blah ..

  • Do you have driver accommodation or driver facilities?

    • We do not have any driver accommodation, or facilities.

Namaste Cafe

1. Up to five (5) days before arrival: Processing fee deductible from the refund is

      a. Domestic Transactions: of ₹590+₹118 = ₹708 OR 4% of total transaction value, WHICHEVER IS HIGHER
      b. International Transactions: Processing fee of ₹590+₹118 = ₹708 OR 4% of total transaction value, WHICHEVER IS HIGHER + international transaction fee as applicable at cost

2. Five (5) days and less in advance of the date of arrival, no show and cut short stays: 100% of the total reservation amount is deductible, and there will be no refund whatsoever under any circumstances

  • Transfer / swap of bookings between properties is not possible under any circumstances.
  • Date swaps are entirely based on availability, and on payment of ₹590 as rescheduling fee, in addition to payment of the upward tariff difference, if any.
  • Verbal communications are not valid. Exceptions, if any, should be in writing only.
  • Bookings made are entirely your responsibility and cannot be changed under any circumstances.
  • Extra person not included in the original booking might not be able to be accommodated upon check-in.
  • Extra person will be provided with a mattress on the floor, with bed & bath linen.
  • Only in case of a government declared natural calamity, you can reschedule a booking free of charge in the next 75 days. In case of any price difference for the rescheduled date, the guest agrees to pay the difference.
  • The property has terrain gradients that need to be taken into consideration before making a booking. People with difficulties in specific walking and senior citizens need to make sure that they are able to handle the natural terrain gradients of the property. 1. Up to five (5) days before arrival: Processing fee deductible from the refund is

      a. Domestic Transactions: of ₹590+₹118 = ₹708 OR 4% of total transaction value, WHICHEVER IS HIGHER
      b. International Transactions: Processing fee of ₹590+₹118 = ₹708 OR 4% of total transaction value, WHICHEVER IS HIGHER + international transaction fee as applicable at cost

2. Five (5) days and less in advance of the date of arrival, no show and cut short stays: 100% of the total reservation amount is deductible, and there will be no refund whatsoever under any circumstances

  • Transfer / swap of bookings between properties is not possible under any circumstances.
  • Date swaps are entirely based on availability, and on payment of ₹590 as rescheduling fee, in addition to payment of the upward tariff difference, if any.
  • Verbal communications are not valid. Exceptions, if any, should be in writing only.
  • Bookings made are entirely your responsibility and cannot be changed under any circumstances.
  • Extra person not included in the original booking might not be able to be accommodated upon check-in.
  • Extra person will be provided with a mattress on the floor, with bed & bath linen.
  • Only in case of a government declared natural calamity, you can reschedule a booking free of charge in the next 75 days. In case of any price difference for the rescheduled date, the guest agrees to pay the difference.
  • Access to the property involves a walk of about 220 metres that need to be taken into consideration before making a booking. Kindly read the property FAQs on https://namastegokarna.com/faq.php before making a decision. People with difficulties in walking and senior citizens need to make sure that they are able to handle the walk to the property along agricultural fields.
  • There is no dedicated parking to the property, and the cards will have to be parked roadside
